![]() This has been going on for about four hours. I have left it based on some of the responses other people left, and all that happens is the icon stays on and then once in a while it turns off for a while and the screen goes black and then the Apple icon is back. I’ve been buying iPhones for something like 15 years and between this and some issues with my iMac, it just seems like Apple’s quality is going down and now their service is pretty weak (and as we all know, AppleCare ain’t cheap). Finally they said to bring it somewhere to be serviced, but because of Covid, the stores are on have very limited hours and the first appointment I can get is a week from now! And of course if I ship it to Apple, it will take 5 to 7 business days as well. Now I’ve been stuck with the icon screen after multiple re-tries including with an Apple tech. All of a sudden this morning suddenly my iPhone just kind of sputters and powers down. Installed iOS 14 about three or four days ago on my 11 Max Pro. It is well publicised that Apple has a history of deliberately throttling the performance of older models to encourage owners to buy new models - remember BatteryGate?.Apple hasn’t resolved all software faults in IOS14 and these faults cause the stalling and crashing problems, or.Now ask yourself why does the problem happen, and there can be 2 answers: Therefore, it is very likely that IOS14 has a number of faults that cause the problem. Even buying a new phone doesn’t guarantee that you won’t get the problem again. If Apple can’t wait til their updates are actually going to work for people, maybe it’s time to stop giving them 1k a year for a phone. But this experience is making me think it might be time to stop getting iPhones. There are many others on here suffering the same problem with a range of phone models: some are less powerful than X, but owners of 11s and 12s are also suffering. I’ve bought the latest model of iPhone for three last few years now and was anticipating buying a 12 when they’re released. The phone, like all the others mentioned in this thread, worked perfectly well on IOS13 - the problems only started since moving to IOS14 (I say ‘moving’ because 14 is certainly not an upgrade because of its many faults). You have an iPhone X which just 3 years ago was marketed as a very expensive cellphone with the latest technology described as ground breaking. Before you consider upgrading think about the problem a little more.
